Grain Central Editors are seeking to identify candidates for a senior sales and marketing position within our online publishing business, spanning the Beef Central, Sheep Central and Grain Central websites.
The Business Development Manager position involves working with our many corporate and private advertisers to plan, develop and execute advertising campaigns appearing on our websites and email alerts. The role is hands-on and includes managing a small sales team.
This is not a “high pressure” sales role, but rather relationship-based marketing with large, loyal and mostly recurring customers. The development of new businesses will also play an important role.
Clients range from international crop protection, animal health, nutrition and finance companies to small agribusinesses offering specialized products and services.
This is an opportunity to work within a small, cohesive, enthusiastic and collaborative editorial and advertising team – all highly experienced in their respective fields and at the top of their game. All three websites cater to a large and growing national audience of agricultural readers.
The person we are looking for will be someone who is self-motivated, self-starter, with good people skills and communication skills, well-organized and presentable. Basic computer skills are essential. Agricultural knowledge in one or more of our publishing areas would be an advantage.
Sales experience would be desirable, particularly in a field related to agriculture such as crop protection, animal health, animal production or agri-finance. No previous media advertising sales experience is necessary – in fact, we strongly encourage applications outside of traditional media sales.
An attractive salary package is available, commensurate with experience. Location is flexible, but ideally in South East Queensland, Eastern New South Wales or Victoria.
Business travel engagement will be moderate, but will involve some face-to-face engagement with customers and other stakeholders, particularly at conferences and other industry events and gatherings.
The position will suit someone with at least 6-8 years of experience in sales and marketing, or a similar customer-facing role.
