HYDERABAD: Telangana would have a population control law similar to that of the UP if the BJP comes to power in 2023, the party’s head of state Bandi Sanjay Kumar said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a public rally in Sangareddy district as part of ‘Praja Sangrama Padayatra’, he said, “As Chairman of BJP State Unit, I am announcing that BJP will form the government in 2023 and we will introduce the Population Control Bill. I challenge the KCR Chief Minister to implement the Muslim reservation, we will not be silent. We will implement the Population Control Bill and the ST Reservation Bills. »
Opposing the TRS government’s attempt to introduce legislation allowing people with more than two children to stand for GHMC elections, he said: “Our party has warned that we will not let this bill go forward. . KCR tried to present this bill only to help AIMIM win in the Old City as the BJP emerged strong there.
Calling the demand for Muslim quotas unconstitutional, he said: “The BC loses a lot. I am not against any religion, but we will not tolerate injustice inflicted on BCs, SCs, STs and poor upper castes.
Defending his position and saying he was non-communitarian, Sanjay said, “Talking about the interests of our people is not against any other religion. I have never offended any other religion.
Earlier, South Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya called Sanjay’s padayatra a Dandayatra (invasion) against the TRS government. Surya claimed that before Telangana was formed, TRS promised ‘neellu’ (water), ‘niyamakalu’ (jobs) and ‘nidhulu’ (funds), but after taking power, people only got ‘ kanneellu’ (tears), ‘nirudyogam’ (unemployment) and ‘atmahatyalu’ (suicides).
