Census shows population growth checked for Outlook

OUTLOOK – Data from the recently released Canadian Census shows that the city of Outlook is experiencing some growth.

First, 2021 census data shows that the province of Saskatchewan increased its population by 3.1% to 1,132,505. This is an increase from 2016 figures, which saw the province have a population of 1,098,352.

As for Outlook, the data shows the city grew by 2.5%, with a population of 2,336 in 2021. That’s an increase of 57 from the 2016 census, which had an Outlook population of 2. 279 inhabitants. It may be important to note, however, that it has been said in recent years by city officials that census data “got it wrong” in 2016, possibly pointing to a missed neighborhood in Outlook that didn’t have not been counted. Anyway, these are the numbers determined by Census Canada.

If we go back to 2006 and advance to today, we see a population growth of just under 400 people in 15 years for Outlook. 2006 census data showed the city’s population at 1,938. The biggest increase in outlook would occur over the next five years, as 2011 showed a substantial increase to 2,204 residents.

Looking at the numbers around the regional area, we see that from a population perspective things are largely the same with odd ticks up or down in some communities. Population figures for local areas include the following:
