Between June 15 and June 22, the seven-day average of new confirmed cases in Texas was 5,787, compared to 5,229 cases between June 1 and June 8. Between June 15 and June 22, the seven-day average of Texas deaths by date of death was nine, up from eight the previous week. The TxDSHS post includes a link to Texas Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 dashboard, highlighting coronavirus trends in counties across the state. The dashboard listing ‘today’s’ numbers on Thursday morning showed 5,541 new confirmed cases, 1,866 probable cases and 15 new deaths reported, although the page notes that the site’s data has been updated to last seen Wednesday morning and would be updated daily at 4 p.m. (CT).
Overall, Harris County had the most confirmed cases in Texas (1,027,869), followed by Dallas County (502,533), Bexar County (491,596), Tarrant County (468,426 ) and Travis County (218,028), according to the Texas HHS dashboard. Jefferson County has had 48,780 confirmed cases, 3,556 probable cases and 848 deaths.
The TxDSHS message says people should get tested and stay home if they feel sick.
“Get fully vaccinated and boosted to avoid serious illnesses as best you can,” the message continues.
In the United States, more than 221.9 million people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 according to the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker, and 47,941,117 doses have been administered in Texas. In Jefferson County, 53.87% of the population over the age of five has been fully immunized, although this percentage increases for those 65 and older (78.25%), according to the dataset. .
