“Thank you for your time. As we head into spring in Australia properly and they come into autumn.
“In Europe we see Germany and France starting to do some research with their COVID cases, other countries we’re not so sure because like Australia there’s an awful lot of testing going on these days.
“So you have to wait for downstream issues like hospitalizations and deaths to understand exactly what is going on.
“But it’s pretty clear that the northern hemisphere is starting to enter the eighth wave of COVID.
Now, what motivates him? Not one particular variant, but exactly what evolutionary biologists predicted, which is why there are a whole bunch of different ones.
Now they are competing to evade infection and vaccination immunity and circumvent this.
“It also means that some of our treatments, like injectables that we might use for very sick people, don’t work the way we want them to.
“So this creates another problem and the need for new solutions in terms of therapeutics for immunocompromised people in particular.
“What are we seeing in Australia, we don’t have any research going on yet. However, we just understand the excess death figures are in and for the first half of 2022.
“There are about 16% more people dying than we expected in this time frame, and about half of that is directly due to COVID. ”
“The other half comes from the other types of diseases that we know COVID can contribute and exacerbate on the way like dementia, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, all those things that we know can be complications.
“Long COVIDs have also increased, adding to a total of around 16% excess deaths of 11,200, more deaths than would normally be expected in the first half of 2022 and it’s not just because ‘there were short lockdowns and then longer-term travel bans across the country.
“It’s the excess of all these sorts of delayed deaths if you will, COVID is still in play no matter what politicians would have us believe.
“This is not a case of respiratory disease referred to be treated like any other respiratory disease. It is a multivisceral disease that causes inflammation of blood vessels.
“So what can you do to protect yourself in the future?” Well, only about 70% of the population is currently up to date with all of their COVID vaccines.
“So if you’re entitled to a booster at this point and haven’t had it, then you should definitely go get it and when a new one becomes available.
“You should have this remembering that these vaccinations were never intended to prevent the spread of disease.
“We have always hoped and hoped that they would reduce serious illness and death, and that is what we are aiming for.
“Right now, COVID is on the verge of becoming the third most common cause of death in Australia, so we are still facing a pandemic.
“It’s an issue that the government now kind of wants to push back onto the people to deal with, so if you imagine they’ve taken the firefighters away, and then you have to start thinking, how am I going to prevent my own house from burning down?
“Obviously it’s vaccination masks, breathing, clean air, avoiding crowded indoor spaces, especially when it becomes clear that this eighth wave has hit Australia with no restrictions of travel.
“Not even tests in place. It is inevitable that we will soon see thousands of people traveling in and out of the country every day.
“But the good news is that we have the tools to deal with it. If we are reasonable about this, thank you for your time.
