Cases in the Borough of Manchester have risen by 2% as Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester. The borough recorded a rate of 104.8 cases per 100,000 residents during the week ending May 6.
The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is 68.2 cases per 100,000 population. In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 91.0 cases per 100,000 people.

The infection rate in the region is below the national average, which is 108.9 cases per 100,000 people. A total of 2,580 people tested positive for coronavirus in Greater Manchester in the week ending May 6.
Greater Manchester’s weekly total is down 600 cases from the previous week, meaning the infection rate is down 19% in the past week.
Hospital admission
In the week ending May 1, a total of 373 patients were admitted to NHS hospitals in Greater Manchester with Covid-19. This is 49 less than the previous week, a decrease of 15%.

Bolton saw a total of 269 cases in the week ending May 6, down 28 from the previous week. That’s a nine percent drop. In Bolton, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 93.3 cases per 100,000 people.
Manchester
There was a 2% increase in cases in Manchester in the week ending May 6, and the infection rate is now 91.8 cases per 100,000 people. Manchester recorded 510 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, 12 more than the previous week.
Wigan
Wigan has recorded 312 cases of coronavirus, 137 fewer than in the previous seven days. Wigan’s latest infection rate is 94.3 cases per 100,000 people, down 31% week-on-week.
Oldham
Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 162 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending May 6, down 85 from the previous 7 days. Oldham’s coronavirus infection rate is now 68.2 cases per 100,000 population and has fallen by 34% week-on-week.
Trafford
