Kenya records 49 new covid-19 cases, positivity rate at 2.7%

The Ministry of Health recorded 49 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday out of a sample of 1,836 tested in the past 24 hours.

The country’s positivity rate is 2.7%.

The total number of confirmed cases in Kenya now stands at 337,599 out of 3,819,910 cumulative tests carried out since the start of the pandemic.

Of the new cases, 45 are Kenyans while 4 are foreigners of which 37 are men while 12 women have been confirmed to have contracted the virus.

101 patients have recovered from the disease, 99 from the home care and isolation program while 2 are from various health facilities across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 331,335, including 277,798 from the home care program. home and isolation, while 53,537 are from various health facilities across the country.

No patient succumbed to the disease, so the cumulative number of deaths remains at 5,672.

“There are 53 patients currently admitted to our healthcare facilities, while 539 are under the isolation and home care programme. No patient is in the intensive care unit (ICU). Thirteen others are in headquarters and are all on supplemental oxygen. There are no patients in the High Dependency Unit (HDU),” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said.

Vaccination

A total of 20,350,479 vaccines were administered across the country. Of these, 17,404 are doses administered to the adult population.

Another 1,792,989 are doses given to people aged 15 to 17, 230,334 are under 15 but over 12, while 922,976 are booster doses.

The total number of vaccines given in the past 24 hours is 147,239 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the past 24 hours is 41,347.

The proportion of fully vaccinated adults is 33%.
