Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now 5.4% after 88 cases were recorded on Sunday.
50 are women and 38 women have contracted the virus out of a sample of 1,615 people tested in the past 24 hours. 14 foreigners are among those who tested positive.
The youngest is 1-2 years old while the oldest is 85 years old.
The total number of confirmed positive cases is now 335,861 and the cumulative tests carried out so far are 3,781,431.
In terms of distribution by county; Nairobi 60, West Pokot 17, Mombasa 4, Kiambu 3, Nyeri 2, Bungoma and Machakos 1 case each.
400 patients have recovered from the disease, 388 from the home care and isolation program and 12 from various health facilities across the country.
“This brings the total number of recoveries to 328,027, of which 274,704 are from the home care and isolation program, while 53,323 are from various health facilities across the country,” the health ministry said.
Sadly, 4 patients have succumbed to the disease, which are late deaths reported after conducting facility records audits in the month of July 2022.
This now brings the cumulative number of deaths to 5,667.
“Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (62), 10-19 years (44), 20-29 (150), 30-39 years (411), 40-49 years (651), 50-59 years (1,029), 60 years and above (3,320),” the statement added.
146 patients are currently admitted to our healthcare facilities, while 2,025 are under the isolation and home care programme. 3 patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), all on respiratory assistance.
11 others are in the 4 general wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
VACCINATION CAMPAIGN :
As of July 9, 2022, a total of 18,982,295 vaccines have been administered across the country.
Of these, 16,854,971 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and older).
Another 1,558,176 are doses given to people aged 15 to 17, 44,181 are under 15 but over 12, and 524,967 are booster doses.
The total number of vaccines given in the past 24 hours is 5,478 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the past 24 hours is 2,637.
The proportion of fully vaccinated adults was 32.0%. The government is working to vaccinate a target population of 27,246,033 people.
