Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has announced that 122 people have tested positive for Covid-19 out of a sample of 2,391 tested in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate is now 5.1%.
In a statement on Saturday, of the cases, 106 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners. 66 are women and 56 men. The youngest is 4 years old while the oldest is 80 years old.
The total number of confirmed positive cases is now 325,442 and the cumulative tests carried out so far are 3,679,918.
In terms of county breakdown, Kagwe said Nairobi had 97 cases, Kiambu 5, Kitui 5, Nakuru 5, Kilifi 2, Siaya 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Kisumu, Migori, Murang’a and Nyandarua 1 case each.
The distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 (5), 10-19 (7), 20-29 (22), 30-39 (38), 40-49(23)50-59(20), 60+ (7) ).
Kagwe said 57 patients have recovered from the disease, all thanks to the home care and isolation programme. This brings the total number of recoveries to 318,755, of which 265,724 are from the home care and isolation program, while 53,031 are from various health facilities across the country.
“Fortunately, no patient succumbed to the disease so the cumulative deaths remain at 5,651,” the CS said.

The SC advised that there are 6 patients currently admitted to our healthcare facilities, while 1,030 are under the isolation and home care programme.
“No patients are in the intensive care unit (ICU), no patients are on supplemental oxygen and no patients are in the high dependency unit (HDU),” he added.
“As of June 3, 2022, a total of 18,265,077 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,493,038 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and older). Another 1,385,916 are doses given to people aged 15 to 17, 34,939 are under 15 but over 12, while 351,184 are booster doses. The total number of vaccines given in the past 24 hours is 14,938 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the past 24 hours is 5,718. The proportion of fully vaccinated adults was 31.1%. The government is working to vaccinate a targeted population of 27,246,033 people,” Kagwe said.
