At a meeting of Iran’s national population headquarters on Wednesday, a message from Ayatollah Khamenei was read on the population issue.

In the message, the leader thanked all the officials and experts who have focused on population growth activities with serious thought and foresight and who are looking at how to save the country from the daunting prospect of aging population.

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated in the message that efforts to increase the population, rejuvenate the country’s workforce and support families are a primary responsibility of the authorities and the people.

The leader noted that influential individuals and centers who can shape culture have a higher degree of responsibility in this regard, as population growth is a “vital policy” for Iran’s long-term future.

Over the past decade, Ayatollah Khamenei has repeatedly stressed the importance of Iran’s growing population.

In 2014, the leader defined general policies aimed at encouraging population growth to compensate for the declining birth rate.

The statement was issued following consultations with the country’s Opportunity Council and was prepared based on Clause 1 of Article 110 of Iran’s Constitution.

In the preamble to the proclamation, the Supreme Leader called the country’s young generation “opportunity and privilege”, stressing that the general policies are intended to compensate for a reduction in population growth and fertility rate that the country has experienced in the past. past. years.
