Students and Youth Encouraged to Participate in the 3rd Annual Population Growth Forum

Four young people (under 25) can attend the next Magnetic North conference in Sault Ste Marie for free. Algoma University has agreed to be the youth sponsor of this year’s event. These four places not only cover conference registration, but also reasonable travel and accommodation costs.

In the meantime, if you can’t physically make it to the conference, any registered student (including college, university, college, and high school students) or anyone under 25 and in career transition can join the event. online for free.

According to Holly Parsons, Magnetic North’s Acting Program Officer, “…our goal is to ensure that anyone younger looking to stay or move to any area of ​​Northern Ontario can join the discussion on anti-racism, reconciliation, attraction and retention at Magnetic North 2022.”

The Magnetic North conference takes place from From June 22 to June 23, 2022, in Sault Ste. Marie at Hotel Quattro, with virtual attendance available for all sessions.

Craig Fowler, Vice President of Growth, Innovation and External Relations at Algoma University expressed the University’s pleasure in being able to help young people engage in this important conversation. “When approached to sponsor this event, the obvious choice was to support in-person youth participation in Magnetic North and create opportunities for learning, sharing and growth.”

The conference will offer a variety of panel discussions, presentations, and breakout sessions to engage perspectives from experts and practitioners in the field of population growth.

Young people who wish to compete for the four available internships must send a two-paragraph explanation of why they wish to attend Magnetic North in person. Young people should focus on what they hope to bring and what they hope to learn at the two-day event. Magnetic North will build on established priorities and lessons learned from previous years’ conferences (Come North 2020 and Magnetic North 2021). The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for employers, researchers, immigration partnerships and individuals to connect and share experiences and opportunities to improve the coordination of efforts in Northern Ontario.
