The incidence rate of COVID-19 in Summit County has increased again. According to the county’s website, the seven-day cumulative incidence rate is 216 cases per 100,000 people, up from 181 cases last week.
From Wednesday, June 1 through Wednesday, June 8, the county totaled 70 new cases.
In the last 28 days, the highest number of cases was in the age groups 60-69 years (44 cases) and 40-49 years (43 cases). A total of 27 cases have been confirmed in young people and children aged 19 and under.
Deaths
There is no change in deaths from last week.
The website says there have been 14 deaths among Summit County’s COVID-19 cases, all of which are COVID-19 deaths.
Vaccines
Approximately 99% of the county’s resident population ages 5 and older received at least one dose of the vaccine and approximately 86% of the same population received their original vaccine series, meaning one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Johnson, two doses of Moderna or two doses of Pfizer.
Approximately 41% of residents aged 5 years and older received at least one booster dose. Summit County Public Health Director Amy Wineland said the percentage of eligible residents who received their first booster dose is lower this week than last week, as those eligible now include children from 5 to 11 years old.
About 21% of residents aged 50 and over received two booster doses.
