Georgia reports 865 new coronavirus cases, weekly positivity rate rises to 15.55%

Georgia reported 865 new Covid-19 cases, 2,820 recoveries and 26 deaths in the past 24 hours. The positivity rate for the past seven days is 15.55%.

A total of 42,564 people remain infected with the coronavirus in Georgia.

A total of 7,733 tests have been carried out across the country in the past 24 hours. 5,281 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 2,452 were PCR tests.

1,629,930 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Georgia since February 26, 2020.

A total of 1,570,884 of the 1,629,930 patients have recovered, while 16,456 have died from the virus.

The new Omicron variant of the coronavirus accounts for the majority of confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The 865 new cases were recorded in:

  • Tbilisi – 430 cases
  • Adjara – 24 cases
  • Imereti – 115 cases
  • Kvemo Kartli – 65 cases
  • Shida Kartli – 46 cases
  • Gouria – 65 cases
  • Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 35 cases
  • Kakheti – 57 cases
  • Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 7 cases
  • Samtskhe-Javakheti – 11 cases
  • Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 10 cases

A total of 2,045 people are being treated in hospitals so far. Currently, 580 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.

40,519 people are receiving treatment at home.

Overall, 1,352,317 people have received at least one dose of any vaccine in the country to date, while 1,249,541 people have been fully vaccinated, representing 43.5% of the adult population nationwide and 226,062 received booster shots of the vaccine.
